Advisor to the CEO
Emilio Matsumura holds a B.Sc. degree (1993) and a PhD degree (2003) in Economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. He worked in BBM, a Brazilian Investment Bank, as Latin American debt fund trader in 1996-1997 and as a consultant to the SDE (Secretary for Economic Law) of the Brazilian Ministry of Justice in 2004. In 2006, he joined Energy Research Office (EPE) as senior economist. He is currently advisor to the CEO, and is in charge of the coordination of the studies of the Ten Year Energy Expansion Plan (PDE) and the Long-Term 2050 Energy Expansion Plan (PNE). He is also professor of microeconomic and econometrics at IBMEC-RJ. Previously, he was lecturer of several disciplines in Economics (microeconomics, macroeconomics, applied mathematics and econometrics) in different institutions: PUC-RIO, FGV-RIO, Faculdades Candido Mendes, FUCAPE. In the last 20 years, he has been working on the following topics: energy planning, long-term economic and energy scenario.
